YouTube singing competition “Best.Cover.Ever.” to debut in November

YouTube to debut "Best.Cover.Ever" series on November 20

YouTube is set to debut their first-ever original singing competition on November 20.

Each episode will feature a different celebrity guest, judging contestants that cover their songs. At the end of each episode, a winner is chosen to sing a duet with the superstar artist. Hopeful contestants submitted audition videos during an open call earlier this year.

Special guests for the 10-episode series include Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, Keith Urban, Charlie Puth, the Backstreet Boys, Joe Jonas & DNCE, Flo Rida, Jason DeRulo, Bebe Rexha, and Nicky Jam.

Best.Cover.Ever. will be hosted by actor and rapper Ludacris, who will also serve as an executive producer for the series alongside Ryan Seacrest and Endemol Shine North America.

“Music has had such a massive impact on who I am today, so I am pumped that through hosting and executive producing our new YouTube original ‘Best.Cover.Ever.,'” Ludacris said, “we can give emerging talent a once in a lifetime opportunity and help bring their dreams to life.

“We are not doing ‘American Idol.’ This is a more authentic experience,” Rob Smith, head of unscripted for Endemol Shine North America, told Variety.

The series will be shot at YouTube Space LA, and is sponsored exclusively by Johnson & Johnson. Episodes will air on the Best.Cover.Ever. channel, on the free, ad-supported side of YouTube.
