It seems that through a small bug/update by YouTube, there is a current bug in Chrome that is autoplaying video embeds even though the autoplay flag is set to 0, or omitted all together. This is not the default behaviour of Chrome or YouTube, and with a bit of digging we discovered what was going on.
Chrome is Autoplaying Video Embeds Everywhere!
Initially, we looked into it as we had a few reports of people seeing autoplay embeds on our website (socialblade.com). Although Chromecast was pegged as the culprit in this bug report, the YouTube team has confirmed that there was a bad push yesterday which caused autoplay embeds to occur in various environments.
A Further report shows that there are many other individuals who are experiencing this issue, and many seem to be blaming specific websites themselves. We at Social Blade, would like to take this time to officially mention that the only time we ever autoplay a video is during our Videocasts on Saturdays, and that is on the homepage only.
Forced YouTube Autoplay Embeds
While this bug is very annoying, rest assured that YouTube is aware of the issue and has been working to fix it. For a website like Social Blade that promotes its partners and the community via various video placements, we understand that this can be annoying to those who are affected by it. YouTube should have this fixed by the end of the day
How to Enable AutoPlay Video Embeds:
For those that are wondering how to enable the autoplay for their own websites, thats a different story. There are some valid use-cases to actually autoplay a YouTube Embed and there are various ways to do it. This is the most basic way that just uses some basic knowledge of HTML.

YouTube Autoplay Videos:
It looks like this issue is in the process of being resolved by developers at YouTube. What is strange is the exact environment needed to replicate this as me and a coworker compared Chrome versions, plugins, extensions, and weren’t really able to figure out any underlying factor.
Despite this, it looks like the team is working to get this resolved. Until this is fixed, we apologize for the autoplaying videos in the sidebar and on the homepage.
