This week we had not one but TWO special guests. The Mighty Thor stopped by to join us for celebrating five years of YouTube as well as remember some of their better days. We then talked about how Tom finally got the boot at myspace and how for some reason people can’t be troubled to type a URL into the address bar and have to search for it instead. After a few more stories we finally got to the legendary Reg Saddler better known to the Social Media world as Zaibatsu. Reg answered some hard questions and gave us a little insight into his world.

Social Blade Digger of the Year
Sponsored by Social Blade but brought to you by Social Media Users
Description: We need you to vote for your favorite Digg User of the Year!
All you have to do to vote for your nomination is to e-mail our co-host Patrick Parise at Jenocide312@gmail.com You have three weeks to vote and your top five choices will be announced on the Social Blade Show on March the 4th.
We have the pleasure of having some extraordinary guests on Social Blade, but it isn’t often that we have someone who has mastered 3 top social media sites over the last 2 years. Why? Because you can count on 1 hand the number of people who can stake that claim.
After hitting the 100,000 follower mark (for the second time), Reg “Zaibatsu” Saddler joins the Social Blade crew to tell us the tail of his long and storied journey through social media.
Despite being banned on Digg over a year ago, Saddler is still the #4 ranked user of all time. He skyrocketed to master Mixx shortly thereafter, then found his niche in Twitter. Regardless of what social media site he tries, one thing always follows: Domination.
Join us Thursday night at 7pm PST, 10pm EDT as we discuss the social media stories of the week as well as hear the “Legend of Zaibatsu”.
On todays show we were two hosts down but had a lot of important topics to cover none the less. We spent a great deal of time covering the issue that people are stealing images from blogs/etc and posting to sites like imgur and how we hope the community will refrain from doing this to give credit to the original creator. We also talked about how there seems to be a move from digg to twitter in terms of putting buttons on websites, and then lastly about the buzz coming from google. Then, we were graced by the presence of none other then Steve Elliott aka alapoet who talked to us about how social media is helping get the word out about medicinal marijuana.
Todays Topics:
Imgur: Stolen Content and Social Media’s Double Standard
The majority of the images uploaded to Imgur are stolen from elsewhere. There is zero policing and all uploads are anonymous, which means that great pictures from across the web are scraped and uploaded as ‘genuine’ content all the time. This is of course wrong & also goes for videos as well, but who is at fault? The site itself? Digg, reddit, their respective communities? We discuss how to make this wrong right.

How Twitter Stole Digg’s Thunder
There was a time where every blog under the Sun had the ubiquitous “Digg” button so that you could vote their stories up on the popular news aggregation site, but seemingly over night those buttons got replaced with the Twitter ReTweet buttons from TweetMeme. What happened? What caused this sudden shift in the social landscape?

Google Buzz
Google’s freshly launched service mimics Twitter with the simple utility of gmail. Though many are thinking “oh no, yet another service”, Google Buzz may be the missing piece of the puzzle in a world where people might be majoritarian users of Google’s products, including Talk, Voice, Mail, and Wave.

For the past several weeks we’ve been making offhanded comments about which network is better, Twitter or Facebook. We have been promising a longer, fully realized debate at a later date, today’s show was that debate.
To tackle this, we broke off into two teams, JD & Urgo formed Team (Bird) Twitter, and Erin and Pat formed Team (Face) Facebook. Victor, as he didn’t have a strong opinion either way, sat in as our impartial judge. There were many reasons each of the networks were better than the other, which had our points system fluctuate throughout the show. We hope you were as excited as we were to find out who the winner ended up being
