On last nights show we were discussing should their be a separation between your personal and professional life online. I firmly believe their isn’t and shouldn’t be a separation behind the two. As the conversation evolved Erin, Urgo, JD, and I explored social media policies in the work place and whether or not there is merit to disciplinary action based off of the content employees publish online. As promised below you’ll find the Social Media policy we implemented at Lebanon Ford.
SUBJ: LEBANON FORD LINCOLN SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY
Lebanon Ford Lincoln stands firmly in its encouragement towards employee use of social media. Employees should feel free to use social media on company time as long as it pertains to the benefit of Lebanon Ford Lincoln. Remember, since you’ve publicly identified yourself with the Lebanon Ford Lincoln brand you must conduct yourself in a manner consistent with our brand. It’s in all of our best interests to do so. If you have any questions about yours or others online content and its consistency with the Lebanon Ford Lincoln brand refer it to anyone of the management staff. Lebanon Ford Lincoln strongly believes if it cannot trust an employee with the professional usage of social media it’s not a social media problem but a personnel issue. Rule of thumb “don’t post stuff online you wouldn’t want your grandmother to see on the front page of the newspaper.”
By signing this agreement you are hereby agreeing to be in full compliance of SUBJ: LEBANON FORD LINCOLN SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY. Failure to comply with this policy will result in disciplinary action or termination of your employment status at Lebanon Ford Lincoln. Infractions of these policies based off personal ignorance will not be tolerated. Any further questions concerning these polices should be directed towards management staff.
