This morning a simple but familiar look has been spotted on Facebook, it is a look that’s currently seen on Facebook’s rumored nemesis, Twitter
.
As those that still use the website, earlier this year Twitter rolled out a new feature that allowed its users to see a box of information appear when a Twitter handle was rolled over. The information consisted of, the amount of users followers, the location of the Tweeter, and some of the users followers Twitter thumbnails.
This futuristic feel has now appeared on Facebook. Just simply log in as normal and choose any name in your newsfeed and rollover it. Once you do, a box will appear showing a thumbnail of the Facebook user, the amount of friends (or if it’s a page “likes”) with a line-up of thumbnail faces below – similar to the Facebook, facepile plug-in. If you are not friends, however, you will not see the additional information stated, just a thumbnail, an “add as a friend” suggestion, and the ability to private message them. This is much like if you visited each individual profile or page to see their information, now saving you time.

This looked like a copy cat scenario, until visiting Twitter’s website today, to only discover that their rollover feature has disappeared. Is this a coincidence? Or is Facebook a copy cat?
