Hello World! Okay so this post serves a dual purpose. We just upgraded to wordpress 3.0 and also we had a great show we think you’ll all love! The show was a bit facebook heavy there was just so much in the news about it this week we couldn’t help ourselves. We did also talk about foursquare, gowalla, and brightkite too though before bringing on the pink hat guy himself, Mike Stenger. Oh and feel free to blame Mike for turning this episode into crazy hat night on the Social Blade show :)

Full Show:

Topics Covered:

Checking In on Location-based Services: Foursquare vs. Gowalla vs. Brightkite
A group of software testers decided to pit the three most popular LBS against each other (Foursquare, Gowalla, and Brightkite). They tested and rewarded a grade of either good, better, or best to six different features Ease-Of-Use, Location Accuracy, Opportunity to Earn Deals, Status Features, Friend Connectivity, and Social Media Integration. Foursquare scored the best for all features but one, location accuracy. Gowalla was a solid second while Brightkite was the obvious weaker of the three.

They also revealed the number of bugs which were found in each LBS (Foursquare had 177, Gowalla 316, and Brightkite 377)

I hate BrightKite. I ended up accidentally spamming my entire address book while trying to find my friends on BK. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not the type to do that, so it must be BK’s fault. That’s what I say, anyway.
