It seems as though Twitter is changing many things these days to make it easier for the online user who chooses to opt-out of Tweeting from a Twitter tool or application such as; Seesmic, Tweetdeck , or Hootsuite, which for many Tweeters have made the tweeting experience easier to manage and contribute to their Twitter society.
However, if you go to the Twitter website, it seems as though they have added a new feature that is very helpful for the online user yet again. Just like adding the “retweet” feature has, for some, helped the URL user to retweet what they like minus the copying and pasting, although arguably many may prefer to still add to the retweet, which as of thus far, Twitter has not adjusted the feature to incorporate.
Twitter has recently implemented a new feature that just by scrolling your mouse over the user name it allows you to see the person’s avatar and whether you are following them or not. Since it is Friday, the Follow Friday that still makes its way as one of every Friday’s Trending Topics. That consists of a Tweeter sharing a mass tweet, which includes the followers they suggest for you to follow ending the tweet with either (hashtag) #FF or #FollowFriday. Despite its continuing popularity, many have complained about Follow Friday and wish that it would disappear since it does clutter the Twitter Feed with endless user names and no reasoning behind why to follow. Others have decided to space out their Follow Friday’s to use up some of their 140 character’s that are allotted to them to give a suggestion as to the reason they believe you should follow the specific people they have shared.
In any case, if you go to Twitter and see the clogging of your Twitter feed with Follow Friday’s, just scroll over to see a pop up appear to view the Tweeter’s name, location and user name. It is a neat feature that Twitter has implemented to help us URL users, and if tweaked can be an even faster way to choose who you’d like to follow not just on Friday’s but any day of the week.
Do you think the user name pop up that appears on Twitter is useful and if not, what changes would you suggest to make it a more useful feature?
