We want to take a moment and reflect on the tremendous support and love that has been felt since the very first Social Blade broadcast that took place early last year. The out pour of support from our peers screamed in volumes of the rewards of our efforts that we have energized into the creation of not only The Social Blade Show, but its brand.

Through your efforts we became official nominees for The 2010 Shorty Awards in the News category which excitingly, is being held in NYC tomorrow night. Unfortunately, since the Social Blade Team lives on either each side of the U.S. and one in Canada, we could not attend the actual ceremony. However, through the powers of Social Media, which as you know, is the heart beat of our show, we have decided to watch the live cast event on livestream.

We are honored to be nominated for news and to be along-side the various other nominees, not only in news but within the other Shorty Awards categories as well. We want to extend a virtual smile and much luck to all of those in the running, yes, this is including those that are up against us. See, here’s the thing, we are already winners. To all 148 of you who took the time to vote for us, we thank you. You made us winners as your source of Social Media news, which means a great deal to the Social Blade team, even more so than you may think. As much as we do hope to win tomorrow night and will be ecstatic if we do, your on-going support of Social Blade has been the greatest award of all.

What Are The Shorty Awards?

It is much like the Oscars for Twitter. The Shorty Awards honors the best producers of short real time content on the Social Network we know as Twitter. This year will be its second annual Awards Ceremony taking place tomorrow night (March 3^rd) in New York City at the TimesCentre in the New York Times Tower.

In order to take part in the Shorty Awards you must use Twitter and be nominated by a Tweeter in order for the nominations to continue by other Tweeters who admire your use of Twitter. Whoever receives the most votes in the Official Categories created by The Shorty Awards and makes it to the top five will then be considered as nominees. Then there are a few days where the top five compete in gaining votes until the voting ends and the official nominees are created. A ceremony then takes place, such as tomorrow night’s, when the official winner of each category as the best producer of short real time content on Twitter is announced.
