On todays show we were two hosts down but had a lot of important topics to cover none the less. We spent a great deal of time covering the issue that people are stealing images from blogs/etc and posting to sites like imgur and how we hope the community will refrain from doing this to give credit to the original creator.  We also talked about how there seems to be a move from digg to twitter in terms of putting buttons on websites, and then lastly about the buzz coming from google.  Then, we were graced by the presence of none other then Steve Elliott aka alapoet who talked to us about how social media is helping get the word out about medicinal marijuana.

Todays Topics:

Imgur: Stolen Content and Social Media’s Double Standard
The majority of the images uploaded to Imgur are stolen from elsewhere. There is zero policing and all uploads are anonymous, which means that great pictures from across the web are scraped and uploaded as ‘genuine’ content all the time.  This is of course wrong & also goes for videos as well, but who is at fault? The site itself? Digg, reddit, their respective communities? We discuss how to make this wrong right.

How Twitter Stole Digg’s Thunder
There was a time where every blog under the Sun had the ubiquitous “Digg” button so that you could vote their stories up on the popular news aggregation site, but seemingly over night those buttons got replaced with the Twitter ReTweet buttons from TweetMeme. What happened? What caused this sudden shift in the social landscape?

Google Buzz
Google’s freshly launched service mimics Twitter with the simple utility of gmail. Though many are thinking “oh no, yet another service”, Google Buzz may be the missing piece of the puzzle in a world where people might be majoritarian users of Google’s products, including Talk, Voice, Mail, and Wave.
