Twitter CEO on the future of Twitter
The CEO and Co-Founder of Twitter, Evan Williams, recently unveiled some upcoming changes to the future of twitter, including user generated lists to follow tweets from many originators on a particular subject and to be able to share with various groups, such as friends, family, social media groupings of your choice, just to name a few examples, and geographical location to see just where your tweets are coming from. This will also include working on a reputaion validating system to address issues of credibility, for example, when Tweeters wrote about the Iranian Government, although it was gratifying for Williams to see the role Twitter could play in showing the world, it also brought to his attention the concern of news media being reported and unverified by anonymous entities. So the Reputation validating system will be based on ratings from other users, which will start weeding out the fakes and giving Twitter more credibility as an information source. On a side note, Williams also shared with CBSNews, how Twitter got it’s name, since it all started with him sending and receiving tweets ( which by the way, were not titled that then nor embraced as being called that at first) via cellphone, the vibration of the cell caused them to think of twitch, but didn’t like the definition, just beneath it in the dictionary was Twitter, “bird’s talking” and the birth of Twitter was had.
