The way Social Media Is done in real time has put news anchors and “the media” a run for their money. You can get news worthy information in 140 characters, such as MJ’s death or memorial, or look at any FB status in the last two weeks since his death or day and a half since his memorial and one person or another has an opinion. It use to take hours and hours of hard editing to break a story such as a star’s death especially a star as huge and well known as MJ was. Now it’s a matter of seconds and who can type the fastest. Social Media has exploded on our cell phones, so not only can we tell it fast but we can tell it when it’s happening , even from the exact spot. Many were tweeting while watching the Memorial and certain stations showed the tweets at the bottom of the screen. Media meeting Social Media…will it be Hybrid Media soon? LOL. The point is, in the case of MJ or even Farrah Fawcett’s death, the general public can now read about it faster than ever before, making it difficult for the average anchor to break a lead story than it is to pop on Digg.

NFL says “Don’t Tweet Me, Bro”
~ by Patrick Parise

What is the real issue here? Is it that they are restricting Twitter from use during football games or is it that they actually have to tell players not to Tweet during games?

It was a great first “real” show, guys. It’s not Pat’s fault the weather down his way didn’t cooperate. You had a nice rapport and it was fun to listen. I got caught up on the part I missed afterward, and you did good. :-)
